Chevrolet Powerglide 2-Speed (1.76)
Powerglide 2-Speed (1.76) is a 2-speed automatic hydraulic transmission created by Chevrolet and used in Chevrolet cars.
This automatic transmission combines a 2-speed planetary gearset and a torque converter. Gears ratios are 1.76 (low and reverse) and 1.00 (drive). Final multiplication depends on a torque converter installed and varies from year to year. A steering-column-mounted lever selects the 5 operating positions: Park, reverse (R), neutral (N), driver (D) and low (L). For safety, the engine can be started only when the control lever is in either park or neutral position. This transmission was installed as an option on Series C10, P10, C20, and P20.
Usually it requires 18 pints of lubricant for dry fill and 3 pints for refill.
